M1CRO/P :: May 2008 432MHz - 248GHz Contest

This year's May UHF contest has seen a departure from the normal ways.
In the light of members' inescapable commitments, the two Trophy contests incorporated in the overall event were our targets this year.
Regretably, conditions at our location on 70cms deteriorated severely between 20:00 Friday and 14:00 Saturday with the beacon PI7QHN going from '599' to '549, QSB' in that period. Indeed Saturday dawned with a low-level misty quality to the weather that never properly cleared, even with the breeze that sprang up towards dusk.

On 3cm, the story was quite different. The new DB6NT Mark 3 Transverter performed faultlessly under contest conditions.
We were able to return to a beacon (on the 2nd VFO) to find it exactly where is was supposed to be, in frequency terms. This helps our QSO partners a good deal when setting up skeds as they can expect to find us bang on ~their~ known offset.
We can blame ourselves for one 'Got-Away' that would have made the difference in one crucial place in the results.

CU in October!
